Certain requirements apply to healthcare providers who need their CPR certification. One of these requirements is Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers CPR/AED certification from the American Heart Association.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers course is designed to prepare healthcare providers with the ability to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The intended audience is those who provide direct patient care in a wide variety of settings.

United Alliance Services has provided vital cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training since its inception; now in addition to the original offering of National Safety Council CPR/AED certification, United Alliance Services is offering BLS CPR/AED certification as well as Heartsaver certification through the American Heart Association to fulfill the needs of healthcare providers.

“During the Basic Life Support  course we cover the BLS CPR & AED protocols, how to respond to emergencies, rescue breathing, two-person CPR, choking, and what signs to look for in the case of cardiac arrest.” Said Megan Savage, CPR/AED and First Aid instructor. “Healthcare providers must have this basic knowledge in order to rescue a patient who has an acute cardiac episode while in their care.”

Those who work in hospitals and doctor’s offices, as well as first responders such as police, fire and emergency medical technicians are all required to have the BLS training, and that includes office personnel. Dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants are also required to have CPR certification. Other occupations such as flight attendants, those who work in correctional facilities, schools, and fitness facilities are required to have the Heartsaver certification.
